7-year-old helps her mom in the garden

“The pepper plants are my favorite!”

(ABERDEEN, Ind.) –  A young girl in Switzerland County has a big mission this summer. She wants to help her mother in the garden.  

7-year-old Daisy Powell has been by her mom’s side for the seeding and sprouting, and won’t miss out on the ripening and harvesting. 

“She woke up yesterday, looked out her window and saw me out there working. Hurried up, changed her clothes, and ran out there ready to jump in to help,” her mother, Tabitha, said. 

The young girl loves gardening with her mom on their farm in Aberdeen, Indiana.  

“I love helping my mom in the garden because I love watching all of the plants and vegetables grow," Daisy told The 812

“The pepper plants are my favorite,” the 7-year-old added.

We asked Daisy what her advice would be to other 7-year-old’s whose mom’s and grandma’s ask them to help in the garden.

“Let the kids help plant. Digging in the dirt is fun!”
