Access to Batesville Kroger will change in 2024

INDOT will stop left hand turns into opposing traffic

(BATESVILLE, Ind.) -- The Indiana Department of Transportation will launch a project that will change how many enter the Batesville Kroger parking lot.

A concrete curb will be constructed between the McDonald's intersection and the FCN intersection.

"This segment of State Road 229 currently experiences a crash-rate of approximately twice the rate of roadways with similar characteristics," said project manager Marc Rape.

The curb will stop traffic from turning left into oncoming traffic between both signals.

So, no more left turns into Kroger unless you're at the traffic light by FCN Bank.

INDOT will begin constructing the curb in the spring. It is expected to be complete within 90 days.

"It will also reduce the potential conflict points caused by left turning motorists crossing two lanes of traffic going in the opposite direction," Rape added.

INDOT will also widen the roadway at the Kroger traffic signal.

"Access to all properties will be maintained throughout the duration of construction," officials added.
