Aurora brewery closing Sunday, with big plans for future

Family hoping to fill void in the community with new grocery store

(AURORA, Ind.) – The owners of Great Crescent Brewery announced that their final day of operations will be Sunday, September 15.

However, there appears to be good things ahead for the building located at 315 Importing Street.

The family planned on keeping the brewery open through the end of the year, however, one of the owners has encountered a medical issue which has led to the sooner-than-planned closure.

“Without going into too much information we decided as a family we couldn’t run the brewery and get through the surgery and recovery, which is an extensive amount of time,” the family said Saturday.

What are their plans for the future?

Aurora lost Tandy’s IGA in early 2023. The family said they plan to open a grocery store in the brewery building along Mechanic Street.

“We are looking forward to seeing you at the Aurora Marketplace in early 2025,” they announced.

They also said the taproom space is available for lease.
