Aurora Elementary students make friendship bracelets

(AURORA, Ind.) -- Second graders at Aurora Elementary received an important lesson in the classroom this week.

Mrs. Diana Petty's students focused on strengthening their bond as a school family.

The kids read the book, "Our Class is a Family," and then made friendship bracelets with beads to represent traits that matter most to their classroom.

Students promised to treat each other with kindness and to support each other and celebrate the successes of others.

"Students decided that together they will become a classroom family that cares for one another and this would help build friendships as well as academic success," the school said.
