Batesville Kiwanis provided the training
(BATESVILLE, Ind.) – Batesville third graders are learning essential water skills thanks to a donation.
The Batesville Kiwanis made a donation that allows every third grader to participate in the Safety Around Water program at the Southeastern Indiana YMCA.
The program equips children with the knowledge and skills to safely respond if they accidentally find themselves in water.
“The fact that every Batesville Community School Corporation (BCSC) third-grade student had
an opportunity for a swim assessment and a structured, individualized swim and safety lesson
is a testament to our strong commitment to providing our community youth with programs that
promote wellness and safety,” said Dana Cassidy, BIS principal.
“This program has the potential to save young lives around water and is an excellent partnership with our YMCA. We appreciate the Kiwanis and the YMCA for making this enrichment experience possible,” she added.
The training took place during school hours at the YMCA.
