Batesville boutique to close after 8 years

You can still stop there through December

(BATESVILLE, Ind.) – A beloved boutique in downtown Batesville will close its doors at the end of 2024.

Lori Rennekamp announced the closure of Bird in a Tree Boutique on Monday night.

The store opened in 2016 and things were going great until the pandemic in 2020.

It was hard, but we made it though due to the support of the community. I still tell anyone who will listen that the only reason I made it, and am still here today, is because of this small town we call our home,” Rennekamp said.

Some challenges that recently arose is the presence of online boutiques and companies such as Temu and Shen.

“This has all lent to falling sales for me, and although I still feel very supported by the community, the sales just aren't where they need to be for my current brick and mortar business model,” she said.

Her plan is to keep the shop open through Christmas and she is hoping to get the continued support from the community.

“I get four more months to enjoy this final chapter, and I plan to make it fabulous and soak up every minute with you. I will continue to plan fun events and bring in new arrivals. I still have bills to pay and I pray that with your support, I can close with a clean, fresh slate,” Rennekamp said.
