Batesville man passes away from ALS; Fundraiser underway

Updated: Jul 16, 2023

Andy Murphy passed away after a four-year battle with the disease

(BATESVILLE, Ind.) -- A Batesville man who fought to raise awareness for everyone battling ALS passed away Thursday following a four-year battle with the horrible disease.

Andy Murphy is survived by his wife, Brooke, and their two children Kerrigan and Andrew.

Despite ALS robbing Andy of his mobility and speech, he and Brooke were passionate about sharing their story to raise awareness and a cure.

"He wants to help ALS become treatable for people in the future because nobody should have to lose a father, husband or sibling to ALS," Brooke said in 2021.

Before moving to Batesville, Andy was the student manager for Bob Knight at Indiana University.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Murphy family.
