Batesville's historic season ends at Semi-State

Bulldogs fall to Heritage Hills

(LINCOLN CITY, Ind.) – The Batesville Bulldogs season came to an end against Heritage Hills on Friday night. 


The Bulldogs made the trip to Lincoln City to compete in their first Class 3A Semi-State game since 1986. 


Heritage Hills is ranked 2nd in Class 3A and outscored their opponents 517-135 this season heading into the game. 


The Patriots are led by star quarterback Jett Goldsberry who got the Heritage Hills offense off to a hot start.


Goldsberry ran for two rushing touchdowns in the first quarter and then hit Hunter Meredith for an 87-yard touchdown pass to make it 21-0 early in the second quarter. 

The two teams went to halftime with the Bulldogs trailing 27-0. 


Heritage Hills scored a touchdown and went for a 2-point conversion in the third quarter which forced a running clock with a score of 35-0.


Batesville continued to give their best effort as the Patriots scored early in the fourth to bring the final score to 42-0.


During the game, the IHSAA TV announcers praised the Bulldogs, including quarterback Will Jaisle while noting how the team was missing some big pieces this season like Cade Kaiser. 


Heritage Hills will face Fort Wayne Bishop Luers at Lucas Oil Stadium in the IHSAA Class 3A State Championship.
