Batesville senior launches sewing business

Updated: May 7

Created after grandma gave her a gift

(BATESVILLE, Ind.) – Batesville senior Jada Day is preparing to play soccer and major in Business at IU Columbus this fall.

She is already getting a taste of entrepreneurship and coming up with a unique business idea.

This past winter, her grandmother bought her a sewing machine and said it was because she knew Jada had a lot of potential.

“So, I said, alright, I am going to do something with this,” Day said.

Jada came up with the idea of creating a business and watched DIY videos while some people donated fabric to her.

She recently launched her business called “That’s Sew Jada Noel” that features a unique line of products.

She sews hot pads, pain towels, bandanas for dogs, hair bows for children and more. Here is a few of her products:

“I hope to expand, I just made a tote bag from old denim, but I really want this to grow big and go far,” she said.

Jada can be found at the Batesville Farmer’s Market on Saturdays and you can also follow her Facebook page by clicking here.

We asked her what advice she would have for other people her age who are inspired to start their own initiative:

“I think you seriously should just do what you love to do. I love sewing and I can do it all day every day. It’s just about finding that one thing that you can do for the rest of your life and will enjoy,” Day replied.

“What I am doing is for the people in this community, to benefit them a little bit. So I just think you should follow your passion and think of others while doing that,” she added.
