Made possible through Andy Koors Legacy Fund
(BATESVILLE, Ind.) — The Batesville Community Education Foundation is helping high schoolers further their foreign language study.
The non-profit is donating $3,000 to support 11 Batesville students who qualified for the Indiana University Honors Program in Foreign Language.
The funds were made possible through the Andy Koors Legacy Fund, named in honor of the longtime German teacher who passed away in 2017.
Students who will travel abroad through the program are Lucy Abplanalp, Lucas Alonso, Sarah Bedel, Abigail Hartz, Lydia Haskamp, Kailey Schaeffer, Matthew Skinner, Ava South, Isaac Trossman, Georgia Voegele, and Jenna Zimmerman.
They will spend a month being immersed in another culture and language this summer.
“Besides this program, we are evaluating new ways that we can honor Andy’s legacy within our school community to impact students,” Wilson said. “We look forward to hearing about these students’ experiences when they return.”
Donations to the BCEF Andy Koors Legacy Fund are always being accepted. Information about the fund and the donation portal can be found on the BCEF website.
