Presented at a scientific conference in Boston

(BOSTON) – A 2018 Batesville High School graduate is part of an award-winning medical research team.

Jessica Westerfeld is a graduate student at the University of Dayton where she is currently working on her Doctorate in Physical Therapy.

Her team conducted a lengthy research project on using abdominal exercises to improve diastasis recti.

Diastasis recti is very common among pregnant women.

Their research was accepted by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) and they were invited to present their findings at the APTA annual scientific conference in Boston.

Westerfeld’s work helped secure the award for Best Platform from the Academy of Pelvic Health.
