BHS, Switz. Co. wrestlers advance to state

Won their semi-state matchups Saturday

(NEW CASTLE, Ind.) – Two local wrestlers punched their tickets to the IHSAA Wrestling State Finals on Saturday.

Local schools that were represented at the semi-state included Batesville, East Central, Milan, Greensburg Franklin County, Lawrenceburg, South Dearborn and Switzerland County.

Most area wrestlers competed at the New Castle Semi-State.

Batesville’s Max Amberger was able to advance past semi-state and qualify for a trip to the state finals.

Meanwhile, Switzerland County competed in the Evansville Semi-State.

Pacers wrestler Gabe Rose not only captured his 100th career victory, he also earned a spot at the IHSAA Finals. Rose is the first Switzerland County wrestler to ever advance to state.

Amberger and Rose are the only two local wrestlers to individually qualify for state this year.

The state finals will take place in Evansville next weekend.
