Duerstock would have turned 22 on September 3
(BATESVILLE, Ind.) – A Batesville woman had her life tragically cut short last year by an alleged drunk driver in northern Indiana.
21-year-old Riley Duerstock was a passenger in a car driven by her boyfriend, Jarrod Nichols, in Marshall County on September 10, 2023.
The couple was hit by an alleged drunk driver who was later arrested and charged.
Riley passed away from her injuries on September 11 while Nichols had a long road to recovery.
Riley was going to school to be a nurse and would have celebrated her 22nd birthday this week.
Bird In A Tree Boutique in Batesville is honoring Duerstock by raising money for a nursing scholarship in her honor.
“You can come in and donate by check or cash. You will receive 20% off your boutique purchase in return,” Lori Rennekamp said.
Bird In A Tree is located on Main Street in Batesville and you can follow them here.
