School recognized for student enlistment
(VERSAILLES, Ind.) – South Ripley High School has five seniors who will join the National Guard after graduation.
The five enlistments has earned South Ripley the designation of the Small School Division in the Indiana Army National Guard Enlistment Challenge for this school year.
To celebrate this achievement, members of the Indiana Army National Guard paid a visit to South Ripley on Wednesday. A Blackhawk helicopter, piloted by Guard members, landed behind the high school parking lot.
Nearly 25 staff members jumped onboard and took a ride on the Blackhawk.
“The Enlistment Challenge has been a fantastic initiative, and we are incredibly proud of our students for stepping up and making the commitment to serve their country,” said Principal Joe Ralston. “Winning the challenge and having the chance to ride in a Blackhawk helicopter is an unforgettable experience for our staff. It’s a testament to the spirit of community and service that defines South Ripley High School.”
The Enlistment Challenge, aimed at promoting careers in the National Guard among high school students, has seen South Ripley High School’s commitment to service and dedication to the community bear fruit.
The school is also crediting the efforts of recruiters Brandon Seabolt and Tyler Roberts for inspiring students to consider the National Guard.
