BMS cross country wins Greensburg meet

(GREENSBURG, Ind.) -- The Batesville Middle School Cross Country team traveled to Greensburg Monday evening for the EIAC meet.


"We had matching victories from our boys and girls teams, each bringing home the traveling team trophies," said coach Sid Howard.


The girls ran first with seventh grader Ava Wade leading the team. Wade was the meet champion for the girls in a time of 11:31.


Also earning All-Conference medals were Elia Wade in 4th place, Maycee Holtkamp in 7th, Jayla Bedel in 8th, Hilary Ziegler 10th, Nya Moon 12th, and Audrey Dieckmann 13th.


The girls had a team score of 30 while Greensburg placed 2nd with 50 points, East Central was 3rd with 51, and Greendale with 116. Benjamin Rush, Connersville, and South Dearborn were incomplete and Franklin County did not have any participants. The boys also had a successful night with four of the seven varsity runners earning All-Conference medals. Eighth grader Levi Essick placed 3rd on the night followed by Cael Luhman in 11th, Hank Bohman 13th, and Wyatt Essick 14th.


Varsity boys that earned ribbons were Abe Trossman in 16th, and Ryan Benz in 18th. The boys had a team score of 57 points while Greendale was 2nd with 74, Greensburg was 3rd with 87, and East Central was 4th with 107 points.
