Teens use Eagle Scout project to help park
(GUILFORD, Ind.) – North Dearborn Community Park will host the inaugural Party in the Park on Thursday, July 4.
The event will begin at 7 p.m. with food trucks, a flag pole dedication, activities and fireworks at dark.
It celebrates the progress that has been made to bring the park to life, and some of the new features wouldn’t have been possible without the help of Boy Scout Troop 693.
The flag pole dedication will take place at 7:30 p.m. and was made possible by Tyler Bolling who chose to install three flag poles as part of his Eagle Scout project.
He had to go search for the materials and monetary donations to make it a reality.
The 25-foot flagpoles will display an American flag, an Indiana flag and a POW/MIA flag.
Another Boy Scout who has stepped up to help the new park is Jacob Eppinghoff.
He used his Eagle Scout project to build benches that have now been placed at the park.
When his project was first approved by the troop, he started off with no money to build the benches but had a goal to complete them by July 4. His hard work led to him accomplishing his initial goal.
During the Party in the Park, there will also be a BBQ dinner smoked by Troop Leader Robert Bailey.
North Dearborn Community Park is located at 5687 North Dearborn Road in Guilford.
