Hopes to bring back in 2025
(BROOKVILLE, Ind.) -- Brookville Canoefest is known for having Indiana's largest canoe race each June.
However, the canoe races are being suspended for 2024, according to a post on the organization's Facebook page.
Organizers say they hope to bring back the historic races in 2025.
One contributing factor to the cancellation this year is a lack of volunteers, one person familiar with the matter told us.
"We will miss each and every one of you and hope that you still visit Morgan’s Canoe & Livery to enjoy our beautiful Whitewater River this summer," the organization said.
Canoefest began in 2006 and takes place on the last weekend of June every year.
