More than 30 students took part in the Explore Welding Camp
(VERSAILLES, Ind.) -- Students are getting the opportunity to gain welding skills through a program led by Genesis: Pathways to Success.
More than 30 students took part in the Explore Welding Camp at the Southeastern Career Center.
Students worked with welding instructors and experienced how to cut metal into segments, clean their cuts, welding them together with different joints, and grinding their final products.
“In this camp, I learned how to bubble weld, which is a good skill for welding," said Cameron Kissel, an eighth grader at East Central Middle School. "Learning like this is valuable because welding is a good skill that you can use to earn a lot of money and turn it into a career.”
The camp provided students with enough information to help them discern a potential future career path, or illuminate an area of personal interest.
