Cincinnati Taylor Swift superfan passes away after 6th cancer battle

Swift surprised Anderson during her performance this summer

(CINCINNATI) -- A 16-year-old girl who was diagnosed with cancer six times has passed away.

Ally Anderson was diagnosed with alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma, a soft tissue cancer, at 11-years-old.

"Five years ago, on September 5, 2018, I heard the dreaded words, ‘You have cancer’ and since then, I have heard those words an additional 5 times making this the 6th fight for my life," Ally said

She had a dream come true this summer when she attended Taylor Swift's concert at Paycor Stadium in Cincinnati.

Swift selected her to be the recipient of the famous "22" fedora hat during her performance. The video of Ally and Taylor quickly went viral.

A donation drive has been launched to raise funds for alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma research in Ally's honor. Click here to learn more.

"Knowing and learning about cancer is important because it could be anyone. I thought it could never be me until it was, and I quickly realized how common it is. It shouldn’t take a diagnosis of you or someone you love to get involved,” Ally said.
