Franklin County deputies joined them to honor fallen ISP Trooper
(BROOKVILLE, Ind.) -- A group of cyclists rolled through Southeast Indiana today with a special mission.
Cops Cycling for Survivors is an annual statewide tour to honor fallen law enforcement heroes while supporting their loved ones and survivors.
Last night, the group was in Richmond where the honored Richmond police officer Seara Burton who was killed in the line of duty last year.
Today, they passed through Franklin and Ripley counties and will end the day in Madison.
While in Franklin County, they were joined by Sheriff Pete Cates and deputies to remember fallen Trooper Richard Gaston who is buried at Old Franklin United Brethren Church on State Road 101.
Gaston was killed in the line of duty in 1999.
There are 24 cyclists on the 13-day ride across Indiana. Many of the cyclists are in law enforcement.
