DCMH gives back to schools after sports physicals

Hospital gives back to the athletic departments

(GREENSBURG, Ind.) – Decatur County Memorial Health hosted sports physicals this summer for student-athletes at five local schools.

The physicals were for students who attend Greensburg, North Decatur, South Decatur, St. Mary’s and Good Shepherd.

Providers who conducted the physicals included Dr. McCullough, Dr. Mungcal, Dr. Roberts, Dr. Steffen, and nurse practitioners Erin Diem, Lauren Karbowski, Monica Livers, Kelly Miller, and Shelly Walsman.

The cost was just $20 per student, which is cheaper than the typical cost of a sports physical.

DCMH partnered with each school to ensure that all proceeds earned would go back to their athletic programs.

There were 139 students who participated and it raised $2,780.

The hospital has distributed those funds back to the schools.

“Serving our community remains our priority. By offering sports physicals at these after-hours events, we ensured students had access to the care needed. We are happy to make a part of the back-to-school process a little easier for students and parents alike,” said DCMH Marketing & Communications Manager, Liz McCoy, said,

If you or someone you know could not attend the sports physical events, you can still schedule with your primary care provider by calling 812-222-DOCS (3627).
