Free hair cuts, sports physicals and much more
(GREENSBURG, Ind.) – We are in the heart of summer but school isn’t too far away.
For students in Decatur County, there is a unique opportunity approaching on July 27.
The Decatur County Health Department will host the inaugural Back to School Bash which will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the health department at 315 S. Ireland Street.
“The vision for this event is to connect families with community partners who offer services that promote healthy living and positive school experiences. Reassuring families that they have support from all areas within our community can create successful transitions into the new school year,” said Public Health Nurse Leslie Straight.
The health department is teaming up with multiple organizations to create a fun event that also serves as a resource fair for students and their families.
Organizers will give away backpacks, offer back-to-school vaccines, free sports physicals, discounted birth certificates and other services.
There will also be free haircuts, a touch-a-truck event, bounce house, lunch, face painting and door prizes
“We live in such an amazing community, and we often hear that people are not aware of all the resources we have to share. We want to offer this Back to School Bash as a one stop resource shop for the families in our county,” Straight said.
If you would like to be a vendor, you’re encouraged to reach out to the health department at (812) 663-8301.
