Five local lineworkers will compete at state event
(GREENSBURG, Ind.) – Decatur County REMC will be well-represented at the Indiana Electric Cooperative Lineman Rodeo next week.
The five local lineman who will compete are Brian Amrhein, Collin Crabtree, Caleb Litmer, Evan Tallent and Joe Vanderbur.
The two-day, family-friendly event showcases the skills and safety training of electric cooperative lineworkers. They will be tested on their knowledge and skills in areas such as pole climbing, hurt man rescue and safely changing electric line hardware.
“This event allows our linemen to refine and demonstrate the skills needed to safely perform as a lineman,” said Jeff Hall, Line Foreman. “Decatur County REMC linemen have a lot of pride in the work they do and it’s great they are able to demonstrate these skills in a competitive environment.”
Decatur County REMC will be one of 37 teams from across Indiana competing at the event on August 22 and 23. It takes place at the Hendricks County Fairgrounds in Danville.
Attendance to the event is free and open to the public. There will also be kids games and other activities.
