Dillsboro man convicted of intimidating attorney

Prosecutor: He threatened attorney's family

(LAWRENCEBURG, Ind.) – A 38-year-old man from Dillsboro will be receiving a heavier prison sentence.

Billy Gene Luke has been serving a prison sentence for stalking at Pendleton Correctional Facility since 2019.

Prosecutors say Luke threatened his attorney, along with the attorney’s wife and child, from prison.

Luke allegedly wrote a letter that made several threatening comments about the acts he would commit if he was released from jail.

He was found convicted of Intimidation with a Habitual Offender sentencing enhancement on Friday.

“It is horrible that an attorney who undertook the defense of Mr. Luke and vigorously represented him on criminal misdemeanor case from 2012 now must worry about the safety of his wife and child. The threats Luke made involved violent, horrendous acts against individuals who are not in the legal system, but rather innocent victims. I am glad that jurors saw the evidence and convicted Luke," said Prosecutor Lynn Deddens.

Sentencing is set for March 11. The range of sentence the Court can impose is up to eight and a half years.

Prosecutor Deddens commended the work of Chief Deputy John Watson and Jeff Wilson for trying this case. Additionally, Detective Gena Allen with the Dearborn County Sheriff's Department for her thorough investigation.
