Brings experience in municipal management
(DILLSBORO, Ind.) – Dillsboro has named a Town Manager.
Derek Walker was voted by Town Council during a special meeting earlier this month.
Walker replaces Susan Greco who has served in the role since 2014 and retired last March. However, she was brought back in an interim basis in November to oversee the process of hiring the future Town Manager.
Greco says Walker is the perfect candidate to lead Dillsboro into the future.
“We have a vision for our future. Plans for economic development, annexation, and downtown revitalization are part of our concept for future development. Dillsboro always strives to maintain our small-town charm while welcoming new business and residents,” she said.
Walker has a Master of Urban and Regional Planning and is an experienced municipal manager. He has worked with Dearborn County’s Department of Planning & Zoning Department was actively involved with developing long-term plans for West Harrison.
“Making a difference in people’s quality of life is the reason that I chose to follow this profession,” says Walker. “Dillsboro offers a teamwork approach to municipal administration which is different. I see this as an opportunity for professional growth and development due to the political structure of a town”.
Doug Baker, Council President was asked why he was impressed with Walker. “His professional conduct and positive feedback from prior employers and colleagues. I feel Derek brings a ton of positive energy and knowledge that will greatly benefit Dillsboro. I’m looking forward to his joining TEAM Dillsboro and moving Dillsboro Forward together,” said Baker.
Walker grew up off of SR 129 between Versailles and Osgood on the family farm, and graduated from Milan High School.
