Students and staff got to pick the design!
(DILLSBORO, Ind.) -- Dillsboro Elementary cut the ribbon on their new playground Friday.
This new playground replaces the old metal equipment that had been in place since 1953.
The completion of the project comes after a lot of patience and work by organizers.
In early 2020, the PTO began seeking bids on new equipment. Then the pandemic hit, causing supply chain issues and the price of equipment to more than double.
In November 2022, the PTO made the decision to again pursue the purchase of new equipment. Three proposals for the site were offered early last year.
The playground was made possible by the PTO as well as several organizations including the Dillsboro Civic Club, The Ross Foundation, Civista Bank Foundation, Aurora Lions Club, Friendship State Bank Dillsboro, and generous local donors.
The PTO even let staff and students select the design.
