Items made by vendors in third world counrties
(LAWRENCEBURG, Ind.) -- A unique shopping experience that helps vendors in third world countries is taking place in Lawrenceburg from Friday and Saturday.
The Free Trade Marketplace features handmade items from 65 vendors from 50 different countries.
It features Christmas crafts, kitchenware, children's crafts, clothing, jewelry, leather goods and more.
The proceeds from the one-weekend sale will directly help those vendors become more self-sufficient and get a step closer to being out of poverty.
"There is no semi trucks driving this stuff around in Africa for people to buy. For some of these vendors, we are the biggest sale they make the entire year," said organizer Mary Nelson.
Fair Trade is located at Agner Hall at the Dearborn County Fairgrounds. It is open from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.
