(COLUMBUS, Ind.) – Former Batesville Schools superintendent Jim Roberts currently serves as superintendent of Bartholomew Consolidated Schools in Columbus.

Roberts will retire at the end of the school year after serving in that role for eight years.

He says the decision was made with family input and careful consideration.

“These past eight years as the leader of our school corporation provided me with an opportunity to partake in an extraordinary journey. Collectively, I feel we have appropriately navigated the ever-evolving landscape of education, celebrated numerous successes, and tackled challenges with resolve,” Roberts said.

He will not be leaving education. After retiring as superintendent, he will become the Vice President of the Community Education Coalition in Columbus, Indiana.

In the new role, Roberts will be tasked with growing the AirPark Columbus College Campus.

“In the coming months, I am committed to ensuring a smooth and effective transition and greatly look forward to serving the community, including BCSC, well into the future in my new role,” Roberts said.

He served as Batesville's superintendent from 2007 to 2016.

Roberts was replaced by Paul Ketcham who currently leads Batesville while recently being appointed to the Indiana governor's Workforce Cabinet.
