Camp also had a distinguished military career
(BATESVILLE, Ind.) -- The former president and CEO of Hillenbrand is being remembered for his visionary leadership.
Ken Camp passed away at the age of 78 last week.
Camp served as the first president and CEO of the Batesville-based company after it split from Hill-Rom in 2008.
He was with the company for 32 years before he retired in 2013.
When he retired, Camp said, "I have enjoyed every one of my 32 years of service to Hillenbrand. I'm proud of the successes we've achieved - all of which are due to the gifted and dedicated people throughout Hillenbrand."
Camp is credited with guiding the transformation of Hillenbrand from a $650M casket company serving North America to a $1.6B global company doing business in 40 countries around the world.
Prior to his executive experience, Camp had a distinguished military career in the U.S. Army as part of the 101st Airborne Division, retiring with the rank of Captain.
Ken and his wife, Frann, lived the last number of years in Osprey, Florida.
Funeral services will be held Friday in Sarasota, Florida.
