Franklin County fundraises for family of beloved teacher, coach

Derik 'Bub' Orschell passed away in June

(BROOKVILLE, Ind.) -- A former colleague and friend of Derik 'Bub' Orschell says his loss is a void may never be filled.

Orschell passed away from a battle with cancer in June of this year.

The Franklin County 12th Man Club, which is a non-profit that supports the football team, asked community members to donate to Bub's family during the game on Friday.

All of the money went directly to his wife, Kehlie, and his two children.

Bub served as a Special Education teacher at Franklin County Schools and was heavily involved in youth athletics.

He was also a member of the American Legion and served as President of the Eagles.

Franklin County Schools gym teacher Denny Dorrel says anyone who wants to make a donation can stop by the school and ask to give to "BubStrong".
