Fundraiser created after Amish buggy crash near Versailles

The Amish buggy has 7 occupants at time of crash

(VERSAILLES, Ind.) -- Multiple people were hurt after a crash involving a car and a horse-drawn buggy on Sunday night.

The accident led to seven people that were in the buggy being treated for injuries.

The family involved owns Country Creations Bakery which is located at 6851 S. US Highway 421 in Versailles.

A friend of the family created the fundraiser for the Daniel Stoltzfoos family.

It has been a difficult year for the family even prior to the accident.

"Daniel was badly injured in a construction accident several months ago and has undergone numerous major surgeries," said family friend Kim Osborne.

Earlier this month, there was a fish fry and auction benefit to support Daniel as he recovers from the construction injury.

Things took a turn for the worse when their buggy was struck by a vehicle Sunday night.

"Daniel, Elsie and their 5 children were in that buggy. The buggy was destroyed," Osborne said.

Daniel suffered a broken vertebrae in his neck and another break in his leg that he just had surgery on, according to Osborne.

The other six occupants are believed to have suffered non-life threatening injuries.
