Fundraiser launched for mom, business owner battling brain cancer

Owns stores in Greensburg, Lawrenceburg and Harrison

(BRIGHT, Ind.) – A fundraiser has been launched for a Dearborn County wife, mom and business owner.

57-year-old Tonjia Johnson, of Bright, was diagnosed with Grade 4 Gliobastoma on August 15.

The family says it is a terminal brain cancer and the only option is to go through radiation and chemo to prevent it from growing larger.

Tonjia is the owner of GNC vitamin stores in Lawrenceburg, Greensburg and Harrison

“Dad, Casey and I have put our lives on pause to take in every single second we have with her. I have stepped into her role with the stores for now, while dad and Casey are providing 24 hour care at home,” her daughter, Sydney, said.

There are ways you can help right now and there will also be a benefit next month.

The Johnson Family Benefit will be held at 1 More Bar & Grill in Bright on Saturday, October 12.

It will take place from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and it will feature a corn hole tournament, silent auction, raffles and split the pot. All the proceeds will go toward the medical expenses.

You don’t have to wait until the event to help the family.

Donations can be made to the "Tonjia Johnson Fundraiser" at the Lawrenceburg branch of both First Financial Bank and Civista Bank.
