McKinney joined the fire department in 2001
(BRIGHT, Ind.) – A longtime Bright firefighter is battling cancer and the department is hoping the community can support him through his journey.
Kevin McKinney has been on the department for 23 years and has served as the Assistant EMS Chief, Captain, and Lieutenant.
McKinney is also a husband to Emily and has three daughters, Erin, Kate, and Julie
“To us, McKinney is a source of laughter during tough times, a helping hand in times of need, and a friend whose smile can brighten any day,” said Bright Fire Chief Kendall Eberhart.
Bright Fire has established a benefit account. You can donate by visiting the Bright branch of First Financial Bank and asking for the “Kevin McKinney Donation Fund.”
The Department has also established a GoFundMe page for the McKinney Family. Click here to visit the page.
“Please find it in your heart to help ease some of the financial stress that the family may be experiencing. It is estimated that cancer treatment can cost from $1,000 to $21,000 per month along with the ever-rising cost of groceries and fuel,” the department said.
