(LAWRENCEBURG, Ind.) – Lawrenceburg High School’s brand new Broadcasting Studio is named after a Tri-State radio legend.
Jim Scott was the voice you heard every morning on 700 WLW for nearly a half-century. You can read more about him and his connection to Southeast Indiana by clicking here.
The “Jim Scott Broadcasting Studio," will give students insight into media careers and it will include professional-grade cameras, lighting equipment, a green screen, microphones, and computers for video editing.
Students will produce video content for in-studio and on-location projects, as well as podcasts.
"We cherish the responsibility and gift to carry on the legacy of a media legend. Jim Scott's personality and spirit embodied many of the values we strive to instill in our graduates, and we are honored to preserve his legacy through our students," said Lawrenceburg High School Principal Jared Leiker.
The broadcasting program is part of the school's Next Level Pathways initiative and begins with the "Principles of Broadcasting" course. In the following years, students will progress through courses such as "Audio & Video Production Essentials" and "Mass Media Production."
