(BATESVILLE, Ind.) – There is a new memorial for military veterans at Liberty Park in Batesville.
The Batesville Monument company approached Batesville Parks & Recreation about the possibility of installing a monument at the park.
It features five large monuments that honor the different branches of the military.
Batesville Parks Director Mike Baumer, who is a Navy veteran, says it means a lot to have this addition to the community and the park.
“It means a lot to veterans and it was very fitting that the ceremony took place on Memorial Day. This is a memorial for every veteran, and to have the size and quality of a memorial like this in a small town like Batesville means the world,” said Baumer.
Community members are also encouraged to stop by at night as the monuments are lit up.
The memorial is located in front of the Pavilion at Liberty Park.
