(SUNMAN, Ind.) – Students at St. Nicholas Catholic School learned life-saving skills this past week.
According to the American Heart Association, kids as young as sixth grade are strong enough to effectively perform CPR.
The school hosted CPR training for sixth graders and they became certified. One of the instructors was Fr. Shaun Whittington who also serves as an EMT on the Sunman Area Life Squad.
Whittington added that they also train seventh and eighth graders during the school year.
Also, all St. Nicholas teachers and staff are certified in CPR, Stop The Bleed and general first aid.
You never know when someone may be in need of CPR. Here’s what happened at the Brookville pool last summer. Click here.
Whittington added that any organization interested in receiving CPR training can reach out to the Sunman Area Life Squad at (812) 623-2763.
