Boys and girls team will both be represented

(LAWRENCEBURG, Ind.) -- Members from Greendale Middle School's boys’ and girls’ cross country teams are gearing up for an exciting and historic weekend as they head to Terre Haute to participate in the Middle School State Cross Country Championships on Saturday.

This marks a significant milestone for the boys' team, who have qualified as a team for the first time in the school's history.

The boys' cross country team, led by their seasoned 8th graders Noah Hensley and Jacob Agner, have shown remarkable dedication and prowess throughout the season. Joining them on the roster are Coleman Hughes (7th grade), Miles Lightner (6th grade), Henry Gilliliand (6th grade), Brenden Wurtzler (6th grade), Hunter Jones (6th grade), and Elijah Noppert (6th grade). The collective strength of this group has propelled them to this prestigious state competition.

"We are incredibly proud of our boys' and girls’ cross country teams for achieving this historic milestone. Their hard work and determination have paid off, and they've shown the true spirit of teamwork and sportsmanship," said Jayme Herbert, Principal of Greendale Middle School. "This accomplishment reflects not only the dedication of our athletes but also the unwavering support of our coaching staff and the entire LCSC community."

In addition to the boys' team, Loreli McDonald (8th grade) from the girls' team will be representing Greendale Middle School.

"We're excited to see our athletes give their best on the state stage," said Justin Noppert, the Head Coach of the Greendale Middle School cross country team. "This journey has been a testament to their hard work and dedication. We believe they are ready to make our school and community proud."

"The entire Lawrenceburg Community School Corporation community extends its best wishes to both the boys' and girls' cross country teams as they embark on this historic journey to the Middle School State Cross Country Championships in Terre Haute, the school said. "Let us come together to support and cheer for our talented athletes as they chase their dreams and represent Greendale Middle School with pride."
