(ST. LEON, Ind.) -- As the season comes to its final races, the goal is for individuals to run well and for the team to place high- that happened today! The Lady Trojans were predicted to place first- and they did. The EC boys were predicted to place 4th, but they came in third!
"We have several runners who had their fastest races of the season, and others who were just seconds away. Obtaining personal records were: Kendal Pflum, Lily Gambrel, Olivia Egan, Gavin Hicks, Vincent Keck, Jacob Scudder and Spencer Lyon," coach Fr. Jonathan Meyer said.
The top 15 runners of today’s meet are considered all-conference. Achieving this honor were: Bradyn Hatton, Gavin Hicks, Logan Hicks, Callie Bentley, Jena Weiler, Addie Brewer, Emily Klem, Kendal Pflum and Delaney Donawerth. Lady Trojans 6 of those 15 spots.
Here are some more great feats of today. Bradyn Hatton ran his second fastest time ever with a 16:41. Both Gavin Hicks and Vincent Keck dropped 20 seconds off their fastest times. Logan Hicks returned with a break-out performance and ran his fastest race of the year in 18:05. Tyler Allison kept the top 5 together and brought a score to keep Rushville off the Trojans’ third place finish. Callie Bentley ran a solid 18:35, leading the entire race by herself while Jena Weiler took second with a 19:13, only 3 seconds off her personal record. In third for our team was Brewer, who ran 20:01, one of her most consistent times when out in the front. Klem ran her second fastest time of the season, Donawerth rocked out her second fastest race ever, and already mentioned, Kendal Pflum got a PR. Launa Davis was the FIRST PLACE finisher among the JV runners. What a day for racing!
"This race does mark the end of our racing days for our JV runners. They will continue to be with the team and train with them through sectionals and regionals, but they need to be commended for training hard, racing hard, remaining committed, and making this team successful," said coach Fr. Meyer
