Greensburg holiday parade set for Dec. 2

Parade hosted by WTRE and Mainstreet Greensburg

(GREENSBURG, Ind.) -- The Downtown Greensburg Holiday Walk will take place at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 2.


Organizers are currently accepting entries for the parade.


"We encourage you to bring your pets, horses, bicycles, floats, Organizations, Businesses, Church groups, sports teams, 4-H Clubs, Preschool and Daycares, etc. Participants may pass out candy and other items," said parade coordinator Kathy Verseman.


The Parade lineup will begin at approximately 4:45pm in the parking lot of the First Christian Church on N. Broadway Street.


Brendan Bridges and his family will serve as the grand marshal's of the parade. He is being recognized for his work in the community including the Building Bridges Inclusion Park which opened this year.


During the parade, there will be awards for the most overall festive parade float and another called the people's choice.


The Greensburg Police and Fire Departments will be participating along with the Decatur County Sheriff's Department. This year's Color Guard will be presented by the Decatur County Girl Scouts. Santa and Mrs. Claus will make a special appearance in the parade.


This parade is presented by Duke Energy and hosted by WTRE and Mainstreet Greensburg
