Several firefighters honored during ceremony
(GREENSBURG, Ind.) – The Greensburg Fire Department held their 2024 Recognition Ceremony on Tuesday.
The department announced several promotions and handed out awards for Firefighter of the Year and the Life Saving Award.
Ron Reynolds was named Firefighter of the Year, due to his leadership and mentorship within the department.
During the ceremony, Reynolds was also promoted to Assistant Chief which will go into effect next year.
Four firefighters received the Life Saving Award who successfully worked an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest that had a successful outcome. Those firefighters were Reynolds, John Hammersmith, Jarrod Prentice and Caleb Stevens.
Six other firefighters received promotions including Hammersmith, Stevens, Trent Campbell, Walker Gabbard, Ethan Ripberger and Ethan Steele.
"I am continually proud of our team and the dedication our public safety shows to our community," said Mayor Joshua Marsh. "These men have dedicated their lives to saving others and keeping our community safe, and I am proud to continue supporting their good work. Congratulations to all who received an award, and those who were promoted within the department."
