Golf scramble had a unique twist on hole 16 this weekend
(GREENSBURG, Ind.) -- The Greensburg Police Department hosted the yearly fundraiser to support their K-9 program on Saturday.
The fourth annual golf scramble helps the department pay for training and equipment for the police dogs.
In the past year, Greensburg Police have deployed their two K-9's more than 260 times.
"They work with our officers on traffic stops, they're trained in evidence article searching, trained in narcotics detection, and criminal apprehension among other things," Greensburg Police Chief Mike McNealy said.
The fundraiser featured a unique twist with a golf ball rifle launcher. Golfers could give money to fire a gun toward hole 16 rather than using a club.
"This was very popular last year and one of the local golfers here donated the golf ball launcher to us," McNealy added.
The golf scramble featured 25 teams and was held at the Greensburg Country Club.
