Following incident that occurred earlier this month
(GREENSBURG, Ind.) – Carriage On The Square Smokehouse in Greensburg is continuing to show their appreciation to first responders following a scary incident earlier this month.
Several people were hurt when a car slammed into the restaurant’s outdoor dining area on October 8.
Two people were aircared due to injuries, but at last check, it does not appear anyone sustained life-changing injuries.
Carriage On The Square closed for more than a week for repairs.
They reopened on October 16 and announced that all proceeds from the reopening would be given to first responder agencies in Decatur County.
The restaurant is now delivering the proceeds by giving a $100 Langen Meats gift card to every person that works at Greensburg Police Department, Greensburg Fire Fire Department, Decatur County Dispatch, Decatur County EMS, Decatur County EMA and the Letts Fire Department.
Restaurant owner Hans Van Louis said the incident showed him how important first responders are to the community.
“It’s not an easy job, it’s a mentally tough job. I’ve just had a small taste from what I experienced that Tuesday night, and it has been the only thing I really have thought about since,” Van Louis told The 812.
He added, “I really want to thank the community, who is the reason that we are able to donate these gift cards to the first responders, it was only made possible by those who stopped in and supported us when we reopened.”
