(GREENSBURG, Ind.) -- Jessie Hamilton is a heavy equipment operator for Schutte Excavating in Greensburg.
She is being featured by the Bobcat Company for her success in a career field typically dominated by men.
Hamilton says operating heavy equipment has been a lifelong passion. While growing up , her brother often received the cool jobs of driving tractors and handling machinery.
She tells the Bobcat Company that she was determined to break the stereotypes and create her own path using her skills and dedication.
"The thing I’m most proud of is I’ve learned how to become the operator I am on my own. I also feel like when I come to work, I don’t come just for the paycheck. I enjoy every day that I get to sit in that equipment," Hamilton said.
She's among the best when it comes to operating her compact track loader.
Hamilton still encounters the occasional customer who is unwilling to acknowledge her as the boss but she doesn't get discouraged.
"She reminds them that she’s just as capable and efficient as any man and lets her work speak for itself," Bobcat wrote.
