Soccer, volleyball and cross country playoffs held this weekend

SOCCER
The Lawrenceburg Tigers girl's soccer team competed for a Regional championship on Saturday. They were ranked 17th and lost to the 9th-ranked Guerin Catholic by a score of 2-0.
VOLLEYBALL
Lawrenceburg defeated Batesville to claim the Sectional championship. Lawrenceburg will face Barr-Reeve at 11:30 a.m. Saturday in Charlestown.
North Decatur faced South Ripley for a chance to move on to the Regionals on Saturday night. The Chargers beat the Raiders 3-1 and North Decatur will now face Brownstown Central in Mitchell, Indiana at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
The Oldenburg Academy Twisters claimed their first Sectional Championship since 2006. The Twisters topped South Decatur in four sets.
OA will go for a Regional Championship against Greenwood Christian Academy at noon Saturday in Edinburgh.
Prior to the game against OA, South Decatur junior Makayla Somers notched her 1,000 career assist.
CROSS COUNTRY
Milan
The Milan boys team are back to back Sectional champions. Senior Ben Riehle also won the Individual cross country at the sectional for the second year in a row.
The girl's team did not qualify for Regionals, however, Elly Potts and Hannah Cooney will represent Milan as individual runners next week.
South Dearborn
It was a historic run in Hanover for the Lady Knights as South Dearborn won their country Sectional championship for the first time since 1987.
Boy's runner Tegan Burk qualified for Regionals individually after placing in the top 15.
Switzerland County
The Lady Pacers finished third at the Southwestern (Hanover) sectional which allows them to advance to the Regionals next week.
Batesville
Both the boys and girls cross country teams finished second overall at the Connersville Sectional. There were eight Bulldogs who earned a spot on the All-Sectional team.
East Central
The Lady Trojans took the top spot at the Connersville tournament to win the Sectional championship. The team had three of the top five fastest runners with sophomore Callie Bentley finished in first place.
On the boys side, junior Bradyn Hatton finished third individually which qualifies him for a spot at the Regionals.
Greensburg
The boys and girls teams are both Regional-bound after successful performances at the Brown County Sectional. The boys finished third overall and the girls finished fifth. Freshman runner Alaina Bedel will join her male classmates Jake Hawkins and Thomas Gorman as the three Pirates who qualified for Regionals individually.
Oldenburg Academy
Twisters sophomore Adam Dennis qualified individually for the Regionals after finishing seventh at the Connersville sectional.
