(BROOKVILLE, Ind.) – Ida Husted Harper was born in a town that no longer exists in Franklin County.
The Town of Fairfield can now be found at the bottom of Brookville Lake, as it was wiped away when the dam was created.
Harper was born in 1851 and was an author and journalist who became closely connected with Susan B. Anthony.
The Franklin County native was a prominent figure in the women’s suffrage movement. She traveled extensively and handled press relations for the movement.
