Firefighters investigating cause of the fire
(LAWRENCEBURG, Ind.) -- Firefighters were on the scene of a house fire for several hours in Lawrenceburg Wednesday.
Shortly after 2 p.m., fire crews were dispatched to a home in the 20000 block of Augusta Drive.
Firefighters confirmed nobody was hurt as a result of the fire.
"We were able to locate a gas line that was actively on fire when we arrived. It took awhile to get the gas line shut down, which was unfortunately feeding the fire into the structure," Bright Fire Chief Kendall Eberhart said.
Eberhart added that that they were able to save some parts of the structure to allow the family to salvage some items.
A cause has not been determined but firefighters will take a look at the gas meter situation, Eberhart said.
Fire departments The 812 saw on scene included Lawrenceburg, Greendale, Bright, Harrison. Whitewater Township and Aurora.
