How solar eclipse is impacting local hotels

Updated: Feb 29

Solar Eclipse will happen on April 8

Best Western in Batesville

(GREENSBURG, Ind.) – The upcoming solar eclipse will bring a tourism boost to Southeast Indiana.

The expected tourism influx is due to our area being within the totality of the eclipse.

The 812 spoke with several hotels in the region to find out room availability on April 8.

First off, good luck finding a hotel room in Decatur County!

We spoke with four hotels in Greensburg and each of them is either sold-out or nearly sold-out for April 8.

In Franklin County, the Cobblestone Inn in Brookville has been sold out since mid-September for the solar eclipse. The Metamora Inn is also fully booked.

It’s a different story in Batesville as the hotels we’ve spoken with still have plenty of rooms available.

Best Western in Batesville says they’re half-booked for April 8. They still have plenty of rooms available and if you’re interested in a room you can click here to learn more.

The Quality Inn in Batesville also has the majority of their rooms available for April 8.

The Sherman Restaurant & Inn in Batesville has rooms available as well.

We also spoke with several hotels in Lawrenceburg that each reported having plenty of rooms available.

The eclipse is scheduled to start at 3:06 p.m. on Monday, April 8. The next one will not take place in our area until the year 2153!
