(OSGOOD, Ind.) -- It was standing-room only at Jac-Cen-Del's opening boys basketball game against South Ripley Tuesday.
Fans from both teams packed the gym as Eagles fans went home happy with a 49-46 win over the Raiders.
However, both schools had something bigger to cheer about during the game.
Jac-Cen-Del senior Brady Borgman enlisted in the National Guard during a private ceremony last week.
His recruiter worked with the school to recognize Borgman's commitment to our country on a greater scale.
They decided to surprise Brady by conducting his Oath of Enlistment in between the JV and Varsity game Tuesday.
Borgman raised his right hand in front of nearly 2,000 people to pledge his allegiance to the Army National Guard.
"Every one was excited and the crowd was standing on their feet. It was really emotional for a lot of people," Borgman said
Borgman said he's been overwhelmed by the support he's received from classmates and the community.
"Last night was electric, it has been amazing," the 17-year-old said. "It was a little nerve-wracking but it was pretty surreal."
Borgman has wanted to join the military since he was young and encourages others to also follow their passion.
"No matter what you want to do, there will be people around you who support you in whatever choice you make. Stick by your choices and do what you want to do," Borgman said.
Borgman currently goes to Camp Atterbury once a month and plans to attend boot camp in August.
The swearing-in ceremony was conducted by Major Eric Bolin, who serves as the Indiana Army National Guard South Region Recruiting Commander.
