The competition took place in Lawrenceburg
(VEVAY, Ind.) -- The staff and students at Jefferson-Craig Elementary are celebrating one of their own!
Tommy Ostendorf earned a silver medal during the Special Olympics Winter Games at Perfect North Slopes last week.
The sixth-grader competed in the snowboarding event.
"He loves coming to school and always has a smile on his face. He likes meeting people and making new friends. Over the past few years, Tommy has gotten involved with the Special Olympics," said Jeff-Craig secretary Brooke Sullivan.
Ostendorf has also competed in bowling and soccer through the Special Olympics.
The Winter Games features hundreds of Special Olympics athletes from Indiana and Ohio for three days of wintertime fun and competition.
