Jennings Co. jailer accused of OWI, nearly hitting cop car

Jail Commander arrested

(VERSAILLES, Ind.) – The Jennings County Jail Commander is accused of nearly crashing into a deputy's vehicle, police said.

Jennings County deputies say Natasha Goins was traveling on Highway 50 East in Butlerville, when her vehicle crossed the centerline and nearly struck a deputy’s car.

According to the sheriff’s department, she showed signs of alcohol impairment.

The Indiana State Police took over the investigation and Goins was booked into the Ripley County Jail.

“The Jennings County Sheriff's Office remains dedicated to ensuring the safety and well-being of all residents, and we hold our personnel to the highest standards of conduct,” the sheriff’s office said.

Goins has been placed on unpaid administrative leave pending termination, the department added.
